How to make your reel responsive - Smooth Scrolling

Postby Xedma » Thu Mar 13, 2014 1:35 am

The difference between regular scrolling and smooth scrolling is how well your reel responds to your commands. With regular scrolling, reeling is sluggish and unreeling is hardly noticeable. With smooth scrolling, it's overly responsive and unreeling acts like you don't have a hook attacked to something.

To use smooth scrolling, you need a mouse that can enable this. Most Logitech mice can do this (with very few exceptions) and some programmable mice can toggle this, but all other mice can't. If you do not own a mouse capable of smooth scrolling, then either use Reel Rebind or accept your fate.

Follow this link and search for your mouse's model. Click on Downloads and instal SetPoint. Instal and open SetPoint, then go to Pointer and Scrolling Settings. Check the box that says Enable Smooth Scrolling and then hit OK. Example image:

IF SMOOTH SCROLLING ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY:
When you open the game for the first time, or you leave your browser window and come back, or for other reasons, your scroll stops responding properly leading to regular scrolling behavior. Fix this by following these steps:

1. Pause your game.
2. Switch to a different tab in your browser.
3. Switch back and resume gaming.

This resets the scroll for your active window and lets you go back to smooth scrolling. To test if smooth scrolling is working, fly forward and hook something before you fly past it. Unreel and continue to fly forward. If you don't unreel, reset scroll again.

The chrome version only works on the youtube for some reason, and probably some other sites I haven't checked.
Either way, it doesn't work on fenglee.com which is the problem.

Did you switch tabs to try and fix it? That's not supposed to be the case. Smooth Scrolling should work on every webpage not just youtube.

I have always had smooth scrolling on, and when i just turned it off to check, I did not see any discernible difference. Scrolling out still goes extremely slowly, scrolling in still works fine. I use firefox, fyi.
