A crossbow comes to mind, since those can definitely have enough strength to shoot a projectile into stone, but you'd have to climb the rope yourself. Of course, in a life or death situation, you wouldn't have much room to complain.

No promises on when I'll get around to doing it, but now that I'm feeling better, I intend to finally correct titan speeds and character acceleration, albeit if what I've heard about the upcoming update is true, the majority of the information in this thread will probably become incorrect and have to be redone from scratch xD
