What about Shiki? Maybe you haven't seen it because it's not that well known/popular. But I think it's pretty good and also has a dark story (like Death Note). The style is maybe a bit unusual and it is also pretty brutal at times.

This thread is pretty dead, so why not revive it?
Let's start with demographics, shall we?
Seinen: Vagabond, Berserk, Tokyo Ghoul, and Vinland Saga
Shounen: Hunter x Hunter (anime), Haikyuu (anime), Shokugeki no Souma, Hajime no Ippo (anime)
Shoujo: Ao Haru Ride, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (both anime)

Genres
mecha: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Romance: Ao Haru Ride & Kids on the slope (tho Kids on The Slope is more of a bromance)
Sport: Yowamushi Pedal, Hajime no Ippo, Haikyuu and Kuroko no Basket
Action/Adventure: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood & Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis
crime: Baccano
Psychological: Death Note
Movies
Sword of the Stranger, nuff said.

My personal favorites are(in no order):
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Hunter x Hunter 2011
Hajime no Ippo
Death Note

You don't post recommendations here just like that, if someone has a request, then someone replies to it with an anime/anime(s) they think the person would like, according to that request.

Alright I'll make a request.
I would like to find an anime(s) that isn't too silly or ecchi and that may have sci-fi or even comedy. You can even recommend me Manga!

To give an example of what I'd liked, here's my anime list I've seen thus far in no particular order:
thats a lot of anime
1.) Hajime no Ippo (anime)
2.) Ghost in the Shell (anime)
3.) Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (anime)
4.) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (anime)
5.) One-Punch Man (manga)
6.) Attack on Titan (anime & manga)
7.) Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (anime)
8.) Fractale (anime)
9.) Nichijou (anime)
10.) Robotics Notes (anime)
11.) Red Photon Zillion (anime)
12.) Zoids (anime)
13.) Kotetsushin Jeeg (anime)
14.) Hi-sCoool! SeHa Girls (anime)

Shokugeki no Souma, it'll get an anime airing this spring. But i'd read it in case they're gonna butcher it. It's a cooking manga with really good art, it doesn't even have fights, yet it's more intense than other battle shounen. I'd definetly recommend this. But yeah, beware of the echhi, it has a... What can i say, shitloads of echhi, but good echhi. Just read chapter 0 and you'll see.

I reccomend you Akame ga Kill. The first episodes are boring, but after episode 6 the plot starts to develop. Also, the manga is better, compared to the anime, which has its own ending and also rushed the story.
