FOr that last argument , veryone flies for about a minute ....but crashes in a titan instead X)

About the spine snapping ; the strenght is too great even for the harness. Imagine we attach you to a car with a non tense cable , the car starts , the cable keeps rolling until it reaches maximum lenth and the car has already reached a decent velocity ---> snap , there goes your spine

That doesn't actually apply, as that's not how 3DMG works. And even so, your spine would not break, since the pull is distributed.

Do the leather straps have enough to distribute it sufficiently, realistically?
I'm assuming the leather would just cut into you if you decided to have it across your whole body, if not snap altogether.

Nope, climbers use similar harnesses for themselves.
The safety rope is usually attached to their waist, much like the 3DMG cable, it is slightly stretchy, something that the 3DMG mechanism can replicate even with solid cables, and it can save them from a fall without injuring them.
If it works for them, it works for me, plus, the 3DMG harness is a lot more complex, it allows you to shift and redistribute your weight while in the air, both to minimize tension on the body, and to keep you swinging around objects instead of crashing into them, this also allows you to stay airborne, rather then falling to the ground.

The 3DMG has a built in clutch that allows slipping when the cable is tightening. Have you ever driven a car? You don't just slam the gears into place and go from 0 to 25 in .2 seconds. Or else your transmission would break and you'd get whiplash. Same with the 3DMG. When it begins to pull, the inner mechanism slip a bit, so it's not a jerk from where you are standing, but instead a (fast) buildup in reeling power. Your analogy with the 3DMG would be much more akin to adding a bungee cord to the back of the car, and yes, if you stand there and resist, it well get to that point of no more stretch and rip your body from where you are standing, but if you are on a skateboard, the tension will slowly increase, even if the car is way ahead of you.

For one, even if something existed, the g-forces would break our back.
Second, the amount of energy required to propel the hooks as well as us at such a fast rate is immense.
Gas containers are risky and not enough for this.
Also, that much cord and etcetera would increase the weight a good deal.

I wouldn't call it physically impossible, but I doubt we'll get to that point before going extinct

THe biggest problem even if people could survive the G force ....somehow would be the hooks.....how the hell do they work anyway?

Gas powered or something -> Smash into whatever.

The person would need to go through the training required for astronauts maybe more to deal with the G-forces and the metal plates on the back are what is meant to counteract the spine snapping forces that would occur during launch and rapid direction change like strapping a board to your back to keep your spine from going back, god it must get uncomfortable for them but it beats a broken back, so yeah engineeringly possible but highly impractical, on a side note if say a country were to make a successful model, who do you think it would be to do so?

There's no country that would really need it, or that it would be practical enough in.
