Reel Technique - Instant Reeling (A.K.A. Triangling)

Postby Xedma » Thu Dec 19, 2013 9:57 am

Instant Reeling, or "Triangling" as some would call it, is a maneuvering technique that makes impossibly sharp turns that give you an acceleration boost. The name "Triangling" is derived from the shape this maneuver generally makes when circling a titan. This technique's purpose is to get you from point A to point B in a straight line rather than having to circle around trees. It can be used to accelerate faster than you normally would swinging around. NOTE: Be careful when using this technique. The reel's effect can carry over wires if you don't have a fully responsive reel, and it can lead to unintended reels.
Demonstration Video

To instantly reel:

1. Gas forward and fly past a titan/tree/building.
2. Turn around and gas backwards (keeps your character moving forwards)
3. Hook the titan/tree/building.
3.5. Reel before the wire makes contact.
4. Release the wire and go back to gassing forward.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 until satisfied or dead.

EDIT: Reworded and updated

I'll be uploading a video tutorial soon. This is my first time actually making a video, so bear with me. I'm also working on a video for my Overdrive tutorial at the same time.

Video is recorded and is now in the editing process. Can't say how long that process will take though as this is my first time making videos.

Versus Critical Reel, what's more helpful you'd say?

Critical Reel is more along the lines of a finishing move. Triangling is a method for moving about the map and gaining momentum quickly. It can be used in combination with Critical Reel for high damage. Personally, I just use Vector Slash since reeling with 2 wires is difficult for a mouse-user like me. (I use my mouse for my wires)

You must really put a lot of effort in your videos. I use mouse for my wires as well, i might learn your moves real quick =)
